Something Good in Death

Read the Bible in a year by reading First Kings 14 and 15 today.
Death is not always bad. The son of Jeroboam was deathly ill. A prophet told the boy’s mother, “And all Israel shall mourn for him and bury him, for he is the only one of Jeroboam who shall come to the grave, because in him there is found something good toward the LORD God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam” (1Kings 14:13). The son was going to die, but he was going to the grave rather than dying out in a field or some other place for wild animals to devour. This was a sign that God approved of the young man. He was going to die and God allowed it.
By dying, he would avoid the violence that would overthrow the house of his father. Therefore, death can be good, even if it is through a slow death. Do not fear death, because God might be sparing you from something horrible.
