Samaria and Joseph

Read the Bible in a year by reading John 4:1-30 today.
I never noticed this before, but it is interesting that Samaria and Joseph are mentioned in the same sentence, “So He came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph” (John 4:5). The Jews despised the Samaritans; yet, some property that Joseph owned was located in that area. Joseph was the hero of Israel, but his name was mentioned right along with a despised people. That is very interesting.
Did the Jews despise the Samaritans because they had done something evil? No, but they were of mixed blood and that was enough to condemn them! Should not each Samaritan have been judged based on his own merits or lack of them?
Do we condemn people because of who they are in the flesh? If so, we are as guilty as the Jews. Let us learn to look on the inside of a person.
