A Generous Man

Read the Bible in a year by reading Second Samuel 23 and 24 today.
God told David to purchase a certain piece of land, because that is where God wanted the temple to be built. When David approached the owner, Araunah, here is what he said to David, “Let my lord the king take and offer up whatever seems good to him. Look, here are oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing implements and the yokes of the oxen for wood” (2Samuel 24:22). The man loved David as the king of Israel, and he loved God. Therefore, he wanted to give to David whatever he needed. There is something about such loyalty in the heart of a subject for his king that makes you love that subject.
Christ is our king. Can we have the attitude of Araunah toward Jesus? What are we willing to do for our King?
