The Look That Broke a Man

Read the Bible in a year by reading Luke 22:54-71 today.
In past years, I have probably covered the passage that I have chosen for today, but its message is so powerful that it seems right to comment on it again.
Peter had boasted that he would never deny the Lord. Later, that same evening, Peter did it three times! Then this happened, “And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, ‘Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times'” (Luke 22:61).
The once proud man was broken to pieces. There was no more pride. There was no more boasting. There was no more over self-estimation. There was no more concentrating on how much better he was than others.
There was a man who was now completely empty of self, making him a fit container to receive the fullness of Jesus Christ.
Is the Lord allowing you to be in circumstances that will break you down and empty you of you that He might fill you with His spirit?
