The First Words of Jesus to His Disciples

Read the Bible in a year by reading Luke 24:36-53 today.
What would Jesus say for His first words to His disciples after His resurrection? Luke told us, “Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, ‘Peace to you'” (Luke 24:36). Of all the things He could have said, “Peace to you,” was the first thing. Those men were in great fear, having seen the brutality with which the Jews and the Romans treated Jesus, so that the disciples may have been thinking that they were next.
Yes, they were going to suffer horribly in the years to come, but not at that moment. Jesus was going to use them to start something big. Therefore, they needed to hear words of peace from Him who rules the universe.
We are often terrified, frightened, troubled, and filled with doubt as verses 37 and 38 shows the disciples were, but we need to remember that the Lord is in control and He will use us to fulfill His purposes. Then we will go home to be with Him.
