A Troubled Heart

Read the Bible in a year by reading First Samuel 22-24 today.
David cut off part of Saul’s robe while he slept to show him that David could have killed him, but he would not do it because Saul was the anointed of the Lord. Yet, even the action of cutting off part of Saul’s robe bothered David. The Bible says, “Now it happened afterward that David’s heart troubled him because he had cut Saul’s robe” (1Samuel 24:5). Do you want to know how David had the heart of God? This is one example among many. David was a man of compassion
even as our God is one of compassion.
David had no desire to harm Saul even as God has no desire to harm anyone. Therefore, even cutting off part of the robe bothered this young man of God.
