The Importance of Relationship-Building

Read the Bible in a year chronologically by reading Deuteronomy 23-25 today.
In many cultures today, the honeymoon is a vacation, something fun to do with your new spouse. The honeymoon lasts anywhere from a couple of days to two weeks. However, look at the honeymoon, if that is what you want to call it, that the Israelites enjoyed, “When a man has taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war or be charged with any business; he shall be free at home one year, and bring happiness to his wife whom he has taken” (Deuteronomy 24:5). They spent their time, not so much in doing something fun that would add to their indebtedness at the beginning of a marriage, but they worked on getting to know one another at
home for a whole year! Hey, having fun is great, but do not put it above building a relationship, but get to know one another.
