Be Careful to Keep This Commandment

Read the Bible in a year chronologically by reading Numbers 28 and 29 today.
For the Israelites, God wanted them to know the importance of the food offerings. Therefore, He told Moses, “Command the children of Israel, and say to them, ‘My offering, My food for My offerings made by fire as a sweet aroma to Me, you shall be careful to offer to Me at their appointed time'” (Numbers 28:2). When God says that you need to be careful to do something, you need to be careful to do it. If Israel failed to keep that commandment, the Lord would be
displeased and they would have suffered the consequences.
Yet, there was something far more important in the Lord’s mind than the food offerings. He wanted Israel to love Him. He wants the same from us. Nothing surpasses loving God. A scribe knew this when he had a brief discussion with Jesus, found in the Book of Mark (12:28-34). The scribe even confessed that loving God was more than all offerings and sacrifices.
While we do not offer those offerings and sacrifices, there are things that we are to do, but all of them put together do not surpass what God wants most from us, simply to love Him. Do you love Him?
