Our Blue Thread

Read the Bible in a year chronologically by reading Numbers 14 and 15 today.
God commanded Moses to instruct Israel that they were to put a blue thread in the tassels of their garments. Here was why, “And you shall have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the LORD and do them, and that you may not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined” (Numbers 15:39). He went on to say that doing the commandments of the Lord would make them holy for God. God loved His people and told them boldly that they were inclined toward harlotry, meaning spiritual
harlotry, which is idolatry. When they committed spiritual harlotry, they were seeking other lovers, rejecting the God who loved them and blessed them. He wanted their love. Therefore, He wanted them to have something that would remind them of His commandments, and these commandments would insure that they were holy.
Friends, now that we have the completed revelation of God (the Bible) and each of us owns a copy of the Scriptures, our blue thread is to read and to meditate on the Scriptures without ceasing.
