Memorials to People

Read the Bible in a year chronologically by reading Matthew 26 today.
Is it good to have memorials to people? Yes, it is and the Lord Himself endorsed the idea when He defended a woman before His disciples. She had poured expensive oil upon the head of the Lord. The disciples balked at what she did, saying that the oil could have been sold and the money given to the poor. However, after explaining that she was preparing His body for burial, He then said, “Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her” (Matthew 26:13).
You have heard it said that you should ask, “What would Jesus do?” Well, likewise, we want to ask, “What would this woman do?” Remembering what other Bible characters have done, can help us live successfully. The same thing can be done with people we have known. By doing these things, we make memorials to these people.
