The Smell of a Field

Read the Bible in a year chronologically by reading Genesis 26 and 27 today.
Isaac was ready to bless his son Jacob. Here is what the text says, “And he came near and kissed him; and he smelled the smell of his clothing, and blessed him and said: ‘Surely, the smell of my son is like the smell of a field which the LORD has blessed” (Genesis 27:27).
If you have never worked in soil, or not even been in a field or forest, you may not understand what Isaac meant. In fact, it may sound silly to you, but it is true, there is a good smell that comes from a field that the Lord has blessed.
Too many people stay closed up indoors. Get out and breathe some fresh moving air. The air inside is stale from lack of movement. Get out and smell the earth and all the things that are growing upon it because the Lord has blessed it all and He has done it for you!
