Do We Love God's Gifts More Than We Love God?

Read the Bible in a year chronologically by reading Genesis 21:22-22:24 today.
Every good gift and every perfect act of giving is from the Father of lights. His gifts are so nice. So nice, in fact, that sometimes we like the gifts better than the Giver.
God tested Abraham one time to see if he loved God’s gifts more than God. Therefore, the Lord said to Abraham, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you” (Genesis 22:2).
God gave Isaac to Abraham. Abraham loved Isaac, which was something that God knew. However, did Abraham love his son so much that Abraham put his son before God? In Abraham’s case, the answer was no.
What would the answer be in our case? Ask yourself that the rest of the day and see if you need to deepen your relationship with God.
