How Do We Treat God?

Read the Bible in a year chronologically by reading Job 40:1-41:11 today.
There is no higher relationship that we can form than the one with the God of heaven. He has gone to great lengths to create that relationship with us, culminating in the sacrifice of His blessed Son Jesus Christ. There are things we can do to insure that relationship continues to build over time.
For example, consider for a moment what God questioned of Job, “Would you indeed annul My judgment? Would you condemn Me that you may be justified?” (Job 40:8). Job had attempted to annul the judgment of God and to condemn Him that Job might be right. That did not work. It only aroused the anger of God. It hurt the relationship.
Would doing that work with the human relationships we have? No, it would only arouse the anger of our family and friends. What then if we do it with the greatest of all relationships?
Someone might say, “Well, God is always right and humans are not. Therefore, we can justify ourselves in front of those relationships by condemning people.” Friends, when we speak, our words affect people and God. Think before speaking. In all our relationships, let us not have the goal of making ourselves look good, but let us seek to make the relationships better than they were before.
