Do Not Persecute God's People

Read the Bible in a year by reading Revelation 18 today.
Revelation 18 shows the fall of spiritual Babylon. Here was a great city, but it fell. In fact, the Bible shows many great cities of the past fallen. Why do they fall? How can a city be great, then fall? The reasons are different for every city; although we can sum it up in one word, sin. When a city becomes full of sin, it cannot last long. Why did spiritual Babylon fall? Listen to the last verse of Revelation 18. A mighty angel explained,
“And in her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and of all who were slain on the earth” (Revelation 18:24).
Once a city starts to persecute God’s people to the point of death, that city has signed its death warrant. Oh, I wish that I could tell this to every great city of the earth so that it might be spared severe judgment from the Lord. Yet, that is the problem, such cities will not listen. There are people within those cities who will listen, and we must find them that they might hear the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ, which saves us from the wrath to come.
