Praise God That He Is Slow to Anger

Read the Bible in a year by reading the Book of Nahum today.
When you read the Book of Nahum, you will see the Lord’s fierce anger against Nineveh, a city that persisted in its wickedness. One hundred fifty years earlier, He sent Jonah to the city, warning them that if they did not repent, He would overthrow the city. They repented. However, they turned to sin again and would not repent. Therefore, the Lord had Nahum write of their impending destruction. Yet, in all the rage of the Lord that the prophet revealed, he also wrote this,
The LORD is slow to anger and great in power,
And will not at all acquit the wicked.
The LORD has His way
In the whirlwind and in the storm,
And the clouds are the dust of His feet.
(Nahum 1:3)
This God is great in power, yet He is slow to anger. He has His way in tornadoes and storms that frighten us and are beyond our control. That is how much greater in power he is than us. The clouds to Him are nothing more than the dust of His feet. Do you see how grand He is? Nevertheless, He works with us, being slow to anger, giving us time to change our behavior and to learn of His ways. Praise God that He is good toward us.
