Things Depart From Us

Read the Bible in a year by reading Daniel 3 and 4 today.
The great King Nebuchadnezzar had just declared how mighty his power was and the magnificence of his majesty and then this happened,
While the word was still in the king’s mouth, a voice fell from heaven: “King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you!” (Daniel 4:31).
Right while he was boasting, believing that he was safe and secure, that his royal palace could not be taken away and that he could not be taken away from it, that very thing happened. It is not just that life is that way, but God can give generously and take away quickly. In this case, God did it that the king might learn that God rules and that the king had what he had, because God gave it. Do we have to suffer horribly as the king did to learn this lesson?
