Some People Willfully Forget

Read the Bible in a year by reading Second Peter 3 today.
When I first started preaching, it was hard for me to accept the fact that some people, even some Bible-believers, make the decision to forget what the Bible teaches on various topics. In Second Peter 3, the apostle showed that there were some people in the church in the first century who did the same thing by ignoring what the Book of Genesis teaches.
For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water (2Peter 3:5, 6).
There are other portions of Scripture and other doctrines of the Bible that people willfully forget. Do not be one of those people who are guilty of willfully forgetting God’s word. Moreover, do not get discouraged when you discover that there are people like that, even in the church. Yes, we are disappointed deeply when a brother or sister is like that, but at the same time do not let it get you down to the point that you become ineffective. Just realize that you have met a person who has fulfilled prophecies of there being false teachers or false brethren.
