Will You Still Boast?

Read the Bible in a year by reading Ezekiel 27-29 today.
Every time I read this verse, I chuckle,
“Will you still say before him who slays you,
‘I am a god’?
But you shall be a man, and not a god,
In the hand of him who slays you.”
(Ezekiel 28:9).
Can you see the king of Tyre, saying to a man with a sword in his hand ready to drive it through the king, “I am a god”? Mr. King of Tyre, if you are a god stop the man who is about to kill you. I do not think that your slayer is very impressed with your arrogant boast that you are a god. Your slayer hears that boast and he does not have to say a word, but he says it with his sword and without a word, he refutes your claim.
The king of Tyre absolutely refused to acknowledge his error. Do we ever do that? We are wrong, but we insist that we are right. Pride is in the way. If we keep up that pride, it will destroy us. Destroy the pride that you might live.
