“I am a man, and whatever concerns humanity is of interest to me.” -Terence
Holding the NCAA single-game regular attendance record, Michigan Stadium is the largest collegiate football stadium in the country. Thousands have passed through its turnstiles to watch the Wolverines compete in sports over the years. Now seating 107,701 spectators, the stadium becomes one of the 200 largest cities in the United States on game day.
Crowds and mass entertainment have always been a part of human history. When the Apostle Paul first walked down the Arcadian Way into the city of Ephesus, his eyes beheld a great theater at the foot of Mount Prion. This structure, which seated 25,000 people, is the same theater where the mob was inflamed by Demetrius the silversmith (Acts 19:23-41).
One day we all will be present for the largest crowd ever assembled. Every man, woman, and child who has ever lived on the face of the earth will be present. Kings and slaves, generals and privates, villains and saints, will all be there for the “Greatest Show on Earth.”
What am I talking about? The return of the Lord in all of his glory (Matthew 26:59-64; 1 Peter 3:12). No place to run, no place to hide, and no time outs. You will be there! Christian, are you up for the task?
“I know not when my Lord may come, at night or noon-day fair.
Nor if I’ll walk the *vale with Him, or meet Him in the air.
But I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able
To keep that which I’ve committed unto Him, against that day.”
*vale = Valley of Death
You Will Be There!
