Whose Word Will Stand: God or Yours?

Read the Bible in a year by reading Jeremiah 43-45 today.
Jeremiah and the Jews who carried him captive to Egypt, had a disagreement over whether they should keep the word of the Lord. They insisted that while they burned incense to the queen of heaven, a form of idolatry, everything went well with them. Jeremiah insisted on the fact that God sent the Babylonians to Judah and Jerusalem to destroy them because of Judah’s idolatry. The Jews in Egypt believed that they would be safe, that they had escaped the wrath of God and the wrath of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon. God said to those Jews,
“Yet a small number who escape the sword shall return from the land of Egypt to the land of Judah; and all the remnant of Judah, who have gone to the land of Egypt to dwell there, shall know whose words will stand, Mine or theirs” (Jeremiah 44:28).
Now, that is a contest in which I do want to engage. I say things shall be a certain way. God says things shall be another way. Who will win? Oh, you know the answer to that question!
Therefore, when there is a conflict between your ways and God’s ways, your words and God’s words, quickly deny your ways and words and adopt God’s. It is impossible to fight against Him. It is impossible to lose when you are on His side.
