Lord, Correct Me

Read the Bible in a year by reading Jeremiah 9-11 today.
Jeremiah confessed to God that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man to direct his own steps. Therefore, the prophet requested of God,
O LORD, correct me, but with justice;
Not in Your anger, lest You bring me to nothing.
(Jeremiah 10:24).
Since the way of man is not in himself, Jeremiah recognized that he needed direction from God, which would include correction. However, the prophet knew that sometimes he could get way off track and needed a whole of lot correction and that in turn might make God angry. Therefore, he requested that God not be angry, but just in His dealings with the prophet.
Do you not think the same things about yourself? Why not utter the prayer of Jeremiah 10:23, 24 for yourself.
