Can't Keep Quiet

Good news spreads pretty fast through this congregation. When some young lady gets a ring, she can’t help but show her left hand to anyone who wants to see. When a young couple get exciting news from the doctor that they are to have an addition to the family, they can hardly keep the smiles off their faces. When some young person gets the job he or she has been waiting for, you can hear the shout. You just can’t keep good news to yourself!
The best “good news” is the good news that God gives. The gospel story of the love of God for man is an old story, but it is the best news a person will ever hear. Jesus dying on a cross doesn’t seem to be very good news, until one realizes why Jesus died. He died for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3) to deliver us from this present evil age (Galatians 1:4) and to reconcile us to the Father (2 Corinthians 5:18).
That Jesus arose from the dead is astonishing news. A resurrection would make headlines everywhere. But the good news of Jesus’ resurrection is that He was “raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4). His resurrection provides assurance for us that we too can be raised from the dead (Romans 8:11; 1 Corinthians 15:12-19).
These historical realities assure us that Jesus our Lord is coming again for us (John 14:1-3) to bless us with all the joys of the heavenly places throughout eternity. That’s the great good news. Don’t keep quiet about it! Tell everyone you know!
