Lord, you want people who worship and serve in spirit and in truth. Keep me from just going through the motions, from being mechanical in my devotion, from obeying without the heart. I want to obey from the heart, with my whole being, with gratitude and joy and peace and love welling up from within the soul.
Make my faith, Father, to be more than just brushing my teeth and combing my hair before heading out in the morning. Make it personal, between you and me, the ongoing conversation of hearing your word and speaking into your ear, my constant learning what pleases and offends you, what brings your blessing and your abomination.
Another day, Lord, I offer to you as I seek your face and run to your embrace.
Through him who was always one with you, Amen.
